Geeta Parag
A folk singer and community worker from Bisal Khedi in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. She became a folk singer after her marriage when she found a friend in her mother-in-law, Lila Parag, who encouraged her to sing. Geeta ji sings devotional and folk songs of saints and social reformers like Kabir, Ravidas, Meera to name a few. In spite of several objections being raised to women singing publicly, Geeta Parag and Lila Parag, along with their troupe, perform in several community gatherings as well as social campaigns on education, environment, caste discrimination and more.
